*****jk from Cumberland, ME, says:
I would save a lot of money by driving right on by. The place is so overpriced and the food so mediocre. 28.00 + 1.00 surcharge on a seafood platter that came on a small plate...without any sides. The haddock was small and dry and the flavor sub par...I should have known when they put down a whole slimy bottle of salad dressing. In front of me instead of an indivio cup. For the same prices go to The Pearl in Rockland where an award winning chef is And you will find some of the best food., along with the best service. AND fabulous water views

I love the Lobster Pound Restaurant; we have been going there for over 30 years. Great food, great view and good service. It is well worth a try.

*****doc from Augusta, ME, says:
Skip this restaurant, drive to Rockland or keep going to the MDI area, this is the mecca of tourist traps on the midcoast area. For the size of the portions and quality of food it is over priced. They can't say they get the price for the view, if you are lucky to get a view of the water you probably will get a view of the parking lot or better yet the gift shop with tacky tourist junk or stale fudge. Take this from someone not from away, Don't let them screw you too.

We are regulars about 5 times a year. The last couple of years we had some less than perfect experiences there, but we decided to give it another try on our vacation this year (2009) and were quiet impressed with the food this time. Were not sure if it's under new management or just trying harder but we had a wonderful time and found it to be much better; probably one of the best dining experiences of our lives.

I absolutely love the place...the food is not overpriced at all. And the service is always great...the place is a regular for me, as I do live close by...if you're in the area you should definitely try it.

*****DME from Sidney, Maine, says:
Beautiful setting on the ocean where one can dine inside or out. Meals are plentiful and well presented featuring traditional ocean fare as well as choice rib eye, sirloin, ham and turkey for those not in a seafaring mood. The dessert menu offers many choices - try the strawberry shortcake!

Overpriced yet average seafood cuisine.
