the lobster stew was nothing more than boiling hot watery milk and a some chunks of lobster. The fish chowder had one morsel of fish and the clam chowder one little clam. All served in styrofoam take out bowls and plastic wear. The steamers were very salty. Too bad because the help was exceptionally nice and the atmosphere wonderful.

My wife and I were there on Aug.11.2011 at about 11:30 Am for lunch and we just got back to Va. Aug. 13.2011. My wife had scallops and I had the fried clams. My wife loved the scallops and I got food poisoning from the clams and spent the next 24 hours trying to decide which end to stick in the commode first. Sickest I have been in ages. DO NOT GO THERE !!! I love seafood but now can't even think of eating seafood anytime in the near future. Had I not had to leave so soon I would have gone back and bought all of the staff at Ray's a free meal of fried clams to get even. I'll do it this way along with every other web-site I can find.

I have to agree with CD Erickson from El Paso, Texas about the best seafood. As a child I remember going to Rays for lobster take-out. Our party of 2 couples ate there this past Saturday over the Labor Day weekend. We went to the upstairs bar while we waited for a table. There an order for a cup of clam chowder was had by all. The seafood plate had more than enough. Had to bring the leftovers home. No room for dessert.
EXCELLENT. Best I've had in a long time.

Two stories, fifteen feet off the road that runs along the beach in Rye, NH. An uninterrupted view of the ocean from the second floor. The best seafood I've ever eaten - bar none. I spent the first half of my life in that region of the country - have worked a number of restaurants (cooking) - and have eaten in most every place worth mentioning. Ray's is THE BEST. I salivate just thinking about their Seafood Chowder. Ooops, I nearly drooled onto my keyboard....
