Chau Chow City in Chinatown is decent for dim sum, but it's also the only place I've ever been. I recommend bringing someone along who is familiar with the cuisine or with the restaurant, as things can come at you pretty quickly. Waitresses parade the dining room with carts full of dumplings and buns and menu offerings are also available. Caution if you have shellfish (or other food) allergies, the dim sum carts aren't labeled and most of the waitresses don't speak English.

I'm all in for China Pearl. They've been there forever, and have wonderful food. Lots of options, even some vegetarian stuff.

Hei La Moon is by far the best place for dim sum in Chinatown. I've been eating dim sum all my life and this place takes the cake! You can tell that the head dim sum chef puts a lot of care into the dishes.
