Readers' Restaurant Posts from Facebook and Twitter
Toward the end of each weekend or the beginning of each week, we ask our readers what restaurants they have been to recently, and now some of these posts can be found in this new section of the site. Below you will find weekly posts about various dining spots in the Boston area and beyond, as mentioned by our Facebook and Twitter friends. And because our focus is on lesser-known restaurants, the posts that we have included tend to be more on these types of spots rather than more popular eateries and chains.
If you would like to write a longer review about any of your favorite dining spots, please go to our Viewers' Favorite Restaurants section, thanks!

Fabulous lobster pie at Belle Isle Seafood in Winthrop, with a gorgeous view of Boston across the harbor!
Drew S.
Was my fiance's birthday, and she always gets lobster on her birthday (which is a rule I'm not only ok with, it's part of why I'm marrying her. She expected Belle Isle and/or ICOB. I managed to surprise her with twin lobster w/ ginger scallion sauce and clams w/ black bean sauce at Peach Farm -- great meal.
Good thing we were full, because a place that I'll leave unnamed (we won a gift card from them, service was fine, and the very weak food was just as the boards already said, so there's no value to beating them up over a nearly free meal) for dinner later that night was pretty terrible.
Then today -- the always reliable India Quality for lunch, then a second surprise lobster-containing meal at Lineage. I had not been in in a handful of years. The $38 tasting with all seafood courses was the perfect end to a heavy food weekend... but yes, we got the butterscotch pudding, too. Had to -- it had been on my mind since I last had it right before Great Bay closed

So we hit Darryl's Kitchen for superb soul food and jazz on Friday night, then Warren Tavern in Charlestown for some surprisingly good New England lunch in a cozy colonial atmosphere, then an incredible late night dinner at PARK in Harvard Square, the place was slamming but everything was pitch perfect, especially that magnificent trout that I had, and finally a lovely Dim Sum Brunch at Myers+Chang for Easter.

We had brunch today at The Harraseeket Inn in Freeport ME, as we do several times a year. They have what is hands-down the best Sunday brunch anyplace. All you can eat for $25.00 (They have raised the price only five or six dollars in fifteen years.) You may have as much as you want and the waitress clears away your plate as you make another pass at the buffet. For entrees there were custom-carved rib roast, cold boiled half lobsters, roast lamb and probably three or four other things. And an omelette and crepe station; egg dishes and other breakfast items. And my particular favorite, tiny Israeli caviar. And they make a great bloody Mary, complete with a cold U-6 shrimp. A half dozen baked desserts and house-made vanilla ice milk. Most people don't make pigs of themselves, but it appears that no one rebukes those that do. Complete recommend.

Up in Portland, ME this weekend and have been total food tourists. Fore St. (great roast meats and seafoods), Hot Suppa! (great breakfast - poutine w/ sausage gravy and eggs, and a corned beef hash that made me realize I don't hate the stuff after all, just never had a good one), Hugo's (a tasting menu that would have been at home at L'espalier or Menton), Pai Men Miyake (many different ramen - really enjoyed both the miso and tsukemen and the yakitori menu looked great), Eventide (reminded me a bit of b&g. Their lobster rolls are on steam buns and come in 3 varieties, including a warm version with brown butter vinaigrette. Same owner as Hugo's), and Boda (self-billed as a "very Thai" restaurant, with a signature dish of quail eggs dropped into a super-hot escargot pan and then seasoned that may have been the most intriguing dish of the weekend). Also made stops at Novare Res, (a highly enjoyable beer bar that felt like home within minutes, though we didn't get to try the food) and Salt Exchange where we had drinks with friends and tried a bite of a tasty pork belly w/ cranberries and jalapenos). Tomorrow we plan to try Duckfat and drive back home for the Taste of Boston at the Mandarin Oriental. Then Tuesday, MGH for a coronary bypass. Highly recommend the 2 hour drive from Boston

Gaslight = 4.5 stars; Seaglass = 2.5 stars, except for the company I kept and DJ Lisa Garvey doing a "Brunch By The Sea" playing jazz, blues, and little bit of funk.

JM Curley's on Temple Place opened this week and we went there for new year's. Varied cocktail menu of originals and classics, beer for the snob and Schlitz-drinker alike, and a great menu (fried pickles were perfect, as was the special burger -- still mooing and topped w/ pulled pork, bacon, cheddar, bbq, and crisp red onion). Pulling off both non-touristy and non-pretentious in that neighborhood has been so rare.
