Restaurant and Food Glossary
(Including Terms Used in Boston's Hidden Restaurants Site)
Do you get confused by certain words or phrases used in the restaurant business, or specific items included in menus? If so, you are not alone. And it isn't just the names of exotic entrees that are head-scratchers; such seemingly simple terms as "bar pizza" and "turkey tips" indeed cause confusion among many diners, as do "sliders" and "rippers." And the aformentioned exotic dishes can often cause complete confusion. (How many out there know what "bulgogi" is, or "yekik alicha" for that matter?)
The purpose of this section of Boston's Hidden Restaurants is to help readers learn what some of these more obscure (and not-so-obscure!) culinary words and phrases mean. Being a glossary, we will only define terms that show up on our site, which also means that you can do an internal search of that term by using the specialized search link at the end of every glossary page. So have fun looking through our glossary, and hey, you might even learn a thing or two along the way!
