With the shutdown which only allows restaurants to be open for takeout and/or delivery continuing in the Boston area and elsewhere in Massachusetts, we've started to do some quick restaurant reviews on the takeout end of things, even if the dining spots haven't traditionally been seen as places where you would do to-go dishes (as was the case with Spazio's in Braintree a few days ago, which turned out to be fantastic). The latest mini-review is of a restaurant west of Boston that is geared a bit more toward takeout while also being a comfortable place for dining in, except for now, of course. And much like Spazio, Natick's Biryaniz N Breadz was extremely impressive and is now a place that we will definitely want to visit for dining in once the ruling is lifted.
Biryaniz N Breadz resides along a rather plain stretch of Route 135 between Natick Center and the Framingham border, sharing the road with a mix of mostly industrial and commercial building while sitting next to high voltage power lines that cross the street just east of the standalone structure housing the restaurant. The interior of the eatery is quite nice, with dim lighting, comfortable-looking seating in its dining room, and a tiny bar to the left with a few more seats. We placed our order by the entrance and then waited in the car for about 25 minutes--the restaurant has its own small lot off to the side--then went in to get our food. Both the host and the person in the kitchen who brought out the order were as friendly as could be, and as was the case with Spazio, they seemed extremely grateful that we (and others) chose to do takeout there. As far as the meal, well, this was some of the best Indian food we have had in awhile, with the naan, gongura chicken, tikka masala, paneer biryani, chicken biryani, and tandoori chicken all being well worth getting, though one caveat--moderately spicy at Biryaniz N Breadz is about the same as extra spicy at some of the other Indian restaurants in the Boston area, so if you're looking for moderate heat, it might be best to order dishes mild. Most of the dishes were pretty substantial, which allowed for leftovers for the next day, and the food mostly held up well one day later.
As indicated earlier, Biryaniz N Breadz is perhaps a bit more geared toward takeout than Spazio--which is a tad more upscale--though both restaurants are really better suited for dining in. Once things start to get back to relative normalcy, this MetroWest eatery is certainly one that we'll be trying again.
The address for Biryaniz N Breadz is 195 W Central Street (Route 135), Natick, MA, 01760. The phone number is (508) 653-8898.
