Stopped at the Village Butcher Shop in Woodstock for a sandwich en route to the Adirondacks. Well, the Italian sub (which ran about $6) was outstanding. Perfect blend of meats and the typical toppings, but the Italian dressing had some extra zing (maybe a vinaigrette?).
Driving back, we stopped in Rutland at Gill's Delicatessen, which gets much love from online boards for its subs which substitute cabbage for lettuce. While a good hefty sub, it didn't match the perfect blend of tastes at the Village Butcher Shop.
