Trattoria Pulcinella on Huron Street in Cambridge. What a great restaurant!

We visited MuLan in Waltham for New Years Day. Smoked pork with leek, eggplant with basil, pork and cabbage dumplings, and beef and scallion wrapped in pancakes. What a great start to 2012!
JM Curley's on Temple Place opened this week and we went there for new year's. Varied cocktail menu of originals and classics, beer for the snob and Schlitz-drinker alike, and a great menu (fried pickles were perfect, as was the special burger -- still mooing and topped w/ pulled pork, bacon, cheddar, bbq, and crisp red onion). Pulling off both non-touristy and non-pretentious in that neighborhood has been so rare.
Had a fantastic dinner at the new 7 Grill in Danvers. Amazing grilled white asparagus!
Savin bar and kitchen. Duck was incredible.
James Gate in JP had an amazing duck breast on their menu
Redd's in Roslindale. Great fried avocado. Inspired to make my own pumpkin soup.

Monday my 26-year-old son was jonesin' for a good club sandwich, so I took him to Sparta, a great little diner in a strip mall in Bedford, MA, for their house special made with roast beef, turkey, BLT, and mayo. We split an order of their fresh-made onion rings, more than enough for 2 people....
We went with Asian favorites - scrumptious Chinese at Fans of Mary Chung's in Cambridge, MA and sushi & sukiyaki at Toraya in Arlington Center.
Five Horses Tavern in Davis Square - surprisingly good for a place whose main draw is their extensive beer selection.
...On Saturday, we had lunch at Chef Chow's in Brookline -- you can't beat their lunch specials both in quality and price!!! Tonight I ate in but had Thai food delivered by DiningIn from Coconut Cafe in Brookline/Brighton....
Golden Temple [Brookline]. So good!
Ghazal in Jamaica Plain, and Namaskar in Davis Sq. Somerville, both fantastic Indian restaurants, open for holiday weekend.
