We had a quick bite at Dumpling Cafe before the Eugene Mirman show Friday night, because how could you not? XLB, Taiwanese eggplant, and twice cooked preserved pork. Then Stoddard's Fine Food & Ale for a couple of great local beers -- one from Maylower, the other from Tillium. I'd love to hear more noise about those two from people other than the more hardcore beer nerds.

El W.

Dick K. and I had the best meal there - empanadas, pierogis, duck confit cassoulet, short ribs with bolognese, and mac & cheese w/ corn & bacon. To top it off -- amazing desserts: maple bacon ice cream and churros with 3 dipping sauces (spicy dark chocolate, salted caramel, and whipped cream). We also had a fantastic South African wine -- a chenin blanc from Mulderbosch. And the whole meal was about $70.

Was my fiance's birthday, and she always gets lobster on her birthday (which is a rule I'm not only ok with, it's part of why I'm marrying her. She expected Belle Isle and/or ICOB. I managed to surprise her with twin lobster w/ ginger scallion sauce and clams w/ black bean sauce at Peach Farm -- great meal.
Good thing we were full, because a place that I'll leave unnamed (we won a gift card from them, service was fine, and the very weak food was just as the boards already said, so there's no value to beating them up over a nearly free meal) for dinner later that night was pretty terrible.
Then today -- the always reliable India Quality for lunch, then a second surprise lobster-containing meal at Lineage. I had not been in in a handful of years. The $38 tasting with all seafood courses was the perfect end to a heavy food weekend... but yes, we got the butterscotch pudding, too. Had to -- it had been on my mind since I last had it right before Great Bay closed
